Chimamanda Adichie has just bagged another important recognition with her novel, Half of A Yellow Sun, which was voted the best novel written by a woman in the last decade, by fans of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)’s Woman’s Hour programme.

Half of A Yellow Sun was in a strong contest with other popular books like Rose Tremain’s The Road Home; Madeline Miller’s The Song of Achilles; Marilyne Robinson’s Home; Barbara Kingsolver’s The Lacuna; Ali Smith’s How To be both; Zadie Smith’s On Beauty; A. M. Homes’ May We be Forgiven; Eimear McBride’s A Girl is a Half-formed Thing; and Tea Obreht’s The Tiger’s Wife .
