For the third time in one week, Rotimi Amaechi’s name has been excluded from the ministerial nominees the Senate is likely to Screen for confirmation today.
After a closed-door session, the senate came out with a new order paper with only three nominees out of the eight that were to be screened today. The nominees shortlisted for today are Adebayo Shittu, Claudius Omoleye Daramola and Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim.
Senator Dino Melaye confirmed that 3 nominees will be screened in response to Nigerians complaining of shallow ministerial screening.
Although, Amaechi was on the first list of nominees by president Buhari but the senate has refused to screen him over allegation of corruption when he was governor. The former Rivers governor had gone to court to challenge the petition and the case is currently pending in court.
