A lot has happened in the world economy in the last one year due to a number of reasons and things are no longer as they used to be.

Fluctuating global oil prices and a myriad of other issues have affected the assets of some of the world’s wealthiest few including the now famous Mrs Folorunsho Alakija who has now been unseated from her throne as the world’s richest Black woman.

1) Isabel dos Santos


Sitting atop this high and mighty list is the oldest daughter of Angola’s president, Isabel dos Santos. 42-year-old Isabel gained the bulk of her money from her investments which include a huge stake in the Angolian mobile phone company, Unitel and a 25% stake in Angolian bank, Banco Bic SA. She is worth 3.3 billion dollars.

2) Oprah Winfrey


Oprah Winfrey is still the richest Black woman in America. The bulk of her money came from her 25 year profitable daytime TV show and earnings from her OWN network. Her posh mansions are still a veritable source of envy. She is currently worth 3 billion dollars.

3) Folorunsho Alakija


Nigeria’s first female, Folorunsho Alakija made her billions from oil and fashion. She started her business empire in the 70s which now includes the lofty, Famfa oil. Her current net-worth as at July 31st, 2015 is 2.1 billion dollars.
