The cinema release date for the blockbuster movie adaptation, Half Of A Yellow Sun has been shifted owing to issues arising from the certification and censor board in Nigeria.
The movie was meant to premier in Nigerian cinemas today but this was not the case as there had been a delay in getting the movie approved.
“We appreciate everybody that has shown any form of concern to what has been tagged the biggest movie from Africa, we assure you that the movie will be worth the wait,” a spokesperson for the movie said.
The movie which is already showing in the UK has been acquiring rave reviews worldwide. It is the first Nigerian movie to be premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada and it has been billed to premiere in numerous countries including
US, Australia, Portugal, the Middle East and New Zealand.
For those who do not know, Half Of A Yellow Sun is an adaptation of a book by renowned author, Chimamanda Adichie with the same title. It features stars like Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, Onyeka Onwenu, Genevieve Nnaji, OC Ukeje, Anika Noni Rose, Joseph Mawle, John Boyega, Wale Ojo, Tina Mba, Zack Orji and Hakeem Kae-Kazim.
